The books in Medics & Radios Core Manual series will always be available for free as digital downloads.
The Responder Field Manual is designed to accompany the online Medics & Radios Basic Course. The Medics & Radios Basic Course gives LARP’ers a progressive, standardized tool for developing their own outdoor skills, at their own pace.
The Field Manual, Task Book, Drill Facilitator’s Guide and online course give your teams a turn-key resource for self-training in their neighborhoods. See the Medics & Radios Basic Course at: www.medicsandradios.com/course/medics-radios
The Basic Course will teach you about the Community Staging Area and the 6 team roles in a Medics & Radios Response Team; Staging Area Manager, Team Leader, Scribe, Communicator, Medic and Responder. Medics & Radios drills can be run anytime with a minimal amount of preparation. Other than the CPR drill, which requires manikins, all the other drills can be run with salvaged materials and supplies.
Team Roles
Each team role serves a specific purpose in the Medics & Radios response and each role can scale out through the Incident Command System into larger positions with larger roles. The Field Manual provides team members with step-by-step examples for their roles to make it easier for your team to develop a trained response.
The Field Manual breaks down the FEMA CERT team system and reduces it into the Medics & Radios system;
- the components of the response
- Set Up Staging Area
- Deploy Response Teams
- Communications
- Extraction
- Demobilization
- and Team Roles
- Staging Area Manager
- Team Leader
- Scribe
- Communicator
- Medic
- Responder
The Medics & Radios Core Manual Series
Medics & Radios has 3 manuals. For role play purposes you can think of these as the Player’s Handbook (Field Manual), Player Character Sheets (Task Book) and Dungeon Master’s Guide (Drill Facilitator’s Guide) if that helps.
- Field Manual: gives a general overview of the Medics & Radios process and Team Roles
- Basic Task Book: has the details for all 10 Level 1 drills and sign off sheets for your team members
- Drill Facilitator’s Guide: Tips, tricks and procedures to help your teams run useful drills in your neighborhood.
